Experience the unique moisturizing benefits of the world's only Yak Milk soaps. Each bar of soap is carefully hand crafted using a traditional cold process technique and cured for at least one month.
Yaks are found high in the Himalayas. Yak milk has a high fat and protein content making it a luxurious moisturizing ingredient for our soaps. In fact, Yak milk is actually a misnomer – Yaks are male and our milk comes from the much lesser known female ‘Nak’ or ‘Dri’. Both males and females have horns. But bearing to its wide popularity, Nak’s milk is generally referred to as Yak’s Milk. Yak and Nak are reared in high altitude and seldom come below 3,000 m. They can climb up as high as 20,000 ft (around 6,100 m). At those elevations, they spend their time grazing on wild herbs and grass, which fortify their milk. Subsistence agriculture and livestock rearing are the main source of livelihood for most of the Himalayan people of Nepal. Domesticated yaks are kept primarily for their milk, fiber, and meat; they are also used to plough the field, transporting goods across mountain passes for local farmers and traders as well as in support of climbing and trekking expeditions.
We get our yak milk from Rasuwa district, north of Kathmandu. The purchase of yak milk for Whole Earth Herbs soaps helps these farmers earn an added source of income.
Red clay is considered auspicious and cleansing. Hence during festivals, the Hindus clean their home with red mud. During Tihar, also known as the festival of lights, Hindus smear their floor with red mud because they believe that Laxmi, the goddess of prosperity and fertility will enter their house and bless them with wealth only if their houses are purified for her.

MONGOLIAN MARE'S MILK SOAP

We discovered this soap's secret ingredient on Mongolia's wild steppes. Horses outnumber humans eight to one in the Mongolian wilderness. All through the long, difficult winters the nomadic Mongols sing and dream of plentiful summer when their treasured mare's milk flows free and thick. Rich with the herbs and vitamins derived from the wild grasses and flowers on which the mares graze, mare's milk contains fourteen times the amount of Vitamin C found in cow's milk. While the Mongols traditionally drink the milk for its nutritional benefits, we decided to use it for skin in our soap. Mare's milk's valuable antioxidant properties fight free radicals, which age your skin. A hidden Asiatic treasure, treat yourself to mare's milk's exotic luxury.
With over 20 natural vitamins, including B1, B2 and B12, and rich in magnesium and zinc, mare’s milk contains 14 times the naturally occurring Vitamin C found in cow’s milk. Vitamin C is known for its importance in the manufacture of collagen, which is the main structural protein found in animals. High potassium level; and a unique composition of protein, carbohydrate, fat, minerals, and enzymes compared to other animal
